Our Offerings

At The Elevated Taiji Centre, we provide a range of classes and workshops designed to cater to all levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Our experienced instructors are committed to helping you achieve your personal wellbeing goals through authentic Taiji practice.

Beginner Classes

Our beginner classes are perfect for those new to Taiji. We focus on the fundamental movements and principles, providing a solid foundation for your Taiji journey. Students are analyzed and provided individual attention. Join us to experience the gentle yet powerful benefits of Taiji.

Advanced Classes

For experienced practitioners, our advanced classes offer in-depth exploration of Taiji forms and techniques. Enhance your skills and deepen your understanding of Taiji with our expert method.

Private Sessions

Experience personalized instruction with our private Taiji sessions. Our instructor will tailor the sessions to meet your specific needs and goals, helping you to progress at your own pace. These are arranged outside of class time.

Wellbeing Programs

Our wellbeing programs integrate Taiji with other traditional and scientific practices to promote overall health and wellness. Discover how Taiji, incoprorated with practices like qigong and rehabilitative exercises, can enhance your physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing. 

Chronic Pain Management

Elevate yourself from the grips of chronic and persistent pain with Taiji (Tai Chi). Taiji is an ancient Chinese martial art that has been incorporated into western medicine for its ability to prevent frailty. Taiji also stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system like yoga, with the additional benefit by doing so during movement. Taiji achieves this by autonomic nervous system harmonization, improved circulation and reduced cortisone levels. Additionally, Taiji has shown to improve stress management, promote mobility, enhance cognitive function and reduce disability. 

Shane Kachur of the Elevated Taiji Centre in Hamilton has over 40 years of experience in the Chinese martial arts and has contributed to the scientific uses of Taiji in healthcare. Additionally, he has 30 years of experience as a physiotherapist (now retired) and received a master’s degree from the University of Regina studying how fear of pain perpetuates pain intensity and disability.

Combining these approaches provide an opportunity to understand and manage pain from its source; learn how to set goals on reclaiming life, return to activity and how to increase endurance with those activities.
